Elizabeth Gasper
Elizabeth A. “Betty” Gasper, age 83, of Tomah, WI, passed away Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, at the Rolling Hills Rehabilitation Center in Sparta, WI. She was born Dec. 24, 1926, to George and Percal (Pannebaker) Eimmerman in Milwaukee, WI.
Betty was a 1945 graduate of Kaukauna High School. She graduated from Outagamie Rural Normal School in 1947 and from Milwaukee Teachers College in 1951. Betty spent her career as an elementary teacher and taught in Milwaukee, Sheboygan Falls, West Bend and Kaukauna. She was united in marriage to Joe Gasper July 29, 1961. In her spare time she was active in Eastern Star, playing bridge, bowling and was a member of various theater groups.
She is survived by her husband, Joe of Tomah, WI; a son, Terry (Sherylee) Gasper of Lake Mills, Iowa; two grandchildren, Tyler and Marissa Gasper; and a sister, Margaret “Peggy” Hardel of Charlottesville, VA; niece, Nancy (Mike) Campbell of Ruckersville, VA; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Percal; and brother-in-law, Don Hardel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Jan.16, 2010, 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tomah.. The Very Rev. Steven J. Kachel will officiate. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church. The Torkelson Funeral Home of Tomah is assisting the family with arrangements. Evelyn Gregar
Evelyn Gregar, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, “Granny”, entered the Kingdom of Heavenly Glory on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010, to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Evelyn was born Dec. 1, 1919, in Nekoosa, WI, the daughter of John and Elsie (Marth) Randecker.
Evelyn was united in marriage to George Gregar Nov. 1, 1945, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Nekoosa. She was an active member of St. James Lutheran Church in Necedah, teaching Sunday school for many years and serving on the Altar Guild. She could always be counted on to help at church dinners.
Evelyn worked with her husband and sons on Gregar’s Egg Farm for over 30 years. She had weekly routes to Nekoosa and Wisconsin Rapids where she delivered farm fresh eggs to homes. For many years she also assisted her son Fred with home egg deliveries in Tomah. She was fondly known as the “egg lady”. Her grandchildren have wonderful memories of watching for the school bus with her.
She is survived by her husband, George; children, Fred (Myong “Missie”) Gregar of Necedah, Thomas (Sandra) Gregar of Tomah, and Janet (Rev. Linden) Wendzel of Sebeka, MN; seven grandchildren, Lisa Sharpe and her daughter Katlyn of Newark, DE, Matthew Gregar of Minneapolis, MN, Kevin (Jamie) Gregar currently serving in Iraq and their daughter Kendalyn of Tomah, Stephanie (John) O’Bryant and their sons Adam and Isaac of Onalaska, Paul (Jeri) Wendzel and their daughter Alexandria of New Providence, IA, Heather (Brad) Dickson and their children Aliyah, Jayden and Payton of Ankeny, IA, and Nathan Wendzel of Ankeny, IA; a brother, Don (Dorothy) Randecker of Wisconsin Rapids; a sister, Grace (Len) Gilman of Wisconsin Rapids; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elsie, and a grandson, Mark Gregar.
Funeral services were held today (Monday), Jan. 11, at 1 p..m. at St. James Lutheran Church in Necedah. Pastor James Link officiated. Burial followed in the Bayview Cemetery, Necedah. Family and friends called on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the church. The Torkelson Funeral Home of Necedah assisted the family with arrangements. Geraldine Jacob
Geraldine C. Jacob, age 86, of Tomah, Wisconsin, passed away Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, at the Rolling Hills Rehabilitation Center in Sparta, Wisconsin. She was born Nov. 2, 1923, to Chris and Alma (Eirschele) Linenberg in Tomah, WI.
She was united in marriage to Alvin Jacob April 13, 1942, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tomah. She was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was active in the St. Mary’s P.C.C.W and served as Guild President. Geraldine was also a member of the Tomah Hospital Auxiliary and the Tomah Lioness Club. Geraldine worked at the Tomah Memorial Hospital, where she was employed for over 35 years. Following her retirement she worked at the Holiday Inn in Tomah. In her spare time she enjoyed scrapbooking, playing bingo and camping. She especially loved attending all of her children’s and grandchildren’s activities.
She is survived by her husband, Alvin Jacob; children, Duane (Jean) Jacob of Tomah, WI, Gerald Lee Jacob of Warrens, WI, Thomas (Kay) Jacob of Tomah, WI, Kenneth (Donna) Jacob of Beaver Dam, WI, James (special friend) Kris Jacob of Tomah, WI, and Patricia (Don) Pierce of Tomah, WI; 17 grandchildren, Curtis (Melissa) Jacob, Gregory (Rachel) Jacob, Trisha (special friend) Pete) August, Hal (Mary Beth) Jacob, Kelly Fowler, Kim Gilbert, Tessa Falk, William (Jodi) Pierce, Tim (Amy) Pierce, Andy Pierce, Trina (Lenny) Bakken, Becky Jacob, Randall (Emma) Jacob, Matthew Jacob, Krystal Fox, Jesse Jacob and Clayton Jacob and 23 great-grandchildren; one expected great-great-grandchild; sisters-in-law, Shirley Linenberg, Evelyn Linenberg and Carolee Linenberg; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chris and Alma; a son, Stephen Jacob; a grandson, Troy Jacob; brothers, Frederick Linenberg, Duane Linenberg and Bernard Linenberg, brother and sister-in-law, Gordon (Jean) Linenberg; and a sister and brother-in-law, Grace (Prentice) Lewis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tomah. The Very Rev. Steven J. Kachel will officiate.
