Ethel Bakken

Ethel Bakken, age 90, of Cashton, WI, passed away on Dec. 16, 2009, at the Rolling Hills Rehabilitation Center in Sparta. She was born May 13, 1919, to Oscar and Olga Everson. She was united in marriage to Leonard Bakken.

She was a faithful church member. Ethel was always good-natured and had a good sense of humor. She was known for her great apple pie and lefse.

She is survived by her daughter, Grace (Tom) Pedersen of Tomah, and her son, Gordon (Connie) Bakken of Sparta; a sister, Lilah Hagen of Westby; a brother, Arnold (Gladys) Everson of Fish Creek Ridge; grandchildren, Luann (Neal) Griffin of Tomah and their son Bryce, Brian (Deneen) Pedersen of Tomah and their children Tia and Amber, Lisa (Kerry) Taylor of Stevens Point and their children Brian, Nathaniel, Benjamin, Aaron and Sarah, Sue (Ron) Donskey of Rockland and their children Joel, Paul, Seth, Trey and Isaac, Crystal (Jim) Treu of Sparta and their children Thomas and Hannah, Bradley Bakken of Sparta, Sebrina Bakken of Rockland and her children Levi and Shawn, Stacey Bakken of Sparta, Lenny (Trina) Bakken of Tomah and their children Brooke, Jenna and Faith; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; a son, Roger; a sister, Florence Olson; and a daughter-in-law, Juanita Bakken.

Funeral services were held today (Monday), Dec. 21, at 2 p.m. at Fish Creek Lutheran Church. Pastor John Stennes-Spidahl officiated. Burial followed in the Fish Creek Cemetery. Family and friends called on Monday from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the church.

The family would like to thank the staff of Rolling Hills Rehabilitation Center for the care they provided Ethel.

Lloyd R. Moskow

Lloyd R. Moskow, 76, of Tomah, and formerly of Camp Douglas, died Saturday, Dec.19, 2009, at his home. He was born Sept. 2, 1933, to Richard and Laura (Eirschele) Moskow in Wilton, WI. He was united in marriage to Jeanette Anne Walker in July of 1957. She preceded him in death on Dec. 28, 1988. When he was 14 he left Wisconsin and moved to North Dakota, where he worked in different mechanic garages and later drove a dump truck. While living in North Dakota he met Don and June Linde. He moved back to Wisconsin and worked as an auto mechanic in many Tomah area garages. He was the owner and operator of his own semi-trucking company and hauled loads between Wisconsin and Minnesota.

He is survived by three children, Wanda (her companion Everett Ludke) Moskow of Oakdale, David (Theresa) Moskow of Camp Douglas, and daughter Amy Guthrie of Tomah; a grandson, Aaron Moskow of Camp Douglas; four step-grandchildren, Clarissa Deal, Amber Deal, Sean Deal, and Brittany Owen all of Camp Douglas; one step great-granddaughter, Michala Gullo, two sisters, Lucille Kearney of Camp Douglas, and Virginia Moskow of Tomah; two sisters-in-law Marlene Moskow of Tomah and Violet Moskow of New Jersey, many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son-in-law, Daniel Guthrie; and two brothers Charles and LaVerne Moskow.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, 2 p.m. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St. Pastor Mark Benning will officiate. Burial will be at a later date.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home from noon until the time of the service.
