Lorraine A. Brueggeman
Lorraine A. Brueggeman, age 87, of Rockland, WI, passed away Dec. 8, 2009, at the Tomah Healthcare Center. She was born Aug. 10, 1922, to Nicholas and Anna (Weinke) Antony on Fish Creek Ridge.
She is survived by two sons, John (Linda) Brueggeman of Tomah and Joe (Terrie) Brueggeman of Buffalo City, WI; five daughters, Theresa Olson of Rockland, Karen Garves of Brush Prairie, WA, Sue Asleson of Sparta, Rita (Cristobal) Candelario of Sparta, Marilyn (Jerome) Schultz of Adams; 23 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Erling (Alice) Antony of Sparta and Alois (Anna Mae) Antony of Bangor; sisters, Evelyn Jensen of La Crosse, Anna Mae Hemmersbach of Sparta, Mary (Lambert) Hemmersbach of Tomah and Amelia Bradley of Onalaska; and a sister-in-law, Vivian Antony of Bangor; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Brueggeman Sr; her parents, Nicholas and Anna; a great-great-grandchild; sons-in-law, James Garves and Bob Olson; brothers, LaVerne and Nicholas Antony; and a sister and brother-in-law, Emily (Ross) Briant; a sister-in-law, Helen Antony; brothers-in-law, Leo Hemmersbach and Gordon Jensen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Dec. 12, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tomah. The Very Rev. Steven J. Kachel will officiate. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Friday, Dec. 11, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. Family and friends are also invited for visitation on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. at the church. The Torkelson Funeral Home of Tomah is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mildred M. Murphy
Mildred M. Murphy, age 96, of Mauston and formerly of Necedah, WI, passed away Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009, at Heritage Manor in Elroy. She was born Sept. 8, 1913, to Herman and Minnie (Gerlach) Seaman in Chicago, IL.
She was united in marriage to Gunney Nilsen Feb. 13, 1932; he preceded her in death in 1957. Mildred moved to Necedah in 1968 where she lived until 1997. She was united in marriage to Aaron Murphy July 8, 1958; he preceded her in death in 1977. Mildred worked as a telephone operator for Illinois Bell. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grand-children.
She is survived by her daughter, Doreen (Henry “Al”) Warner of Mauston; grandchildren, William Murphy of Necedah, Virginia Murphy of La Crosse, Felicia Warner of Green Bay, and an honorary granddaughter, Jodie (David) Askey of Portage; five great-grandchildren, Jazmyn, Xavier, Britanie, Hunter and Kortnie; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Minnie; her husbands, Gunney Nilsen and Aaron Murphy; an infant son, Kenneth Robert Nilsen; a sister, Clara Grimm; and two brothers, William and Elmer Seaman.
Funeral services were held today (Thursday), Dec. 10, at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Tomah. Pastor Mark Benning officiated. Burial followed in the Bayview Cemetery, Necedah. Family and friends called today from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. The Torkelson Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

Ronald F. Rudoll
Ronald F. Rudoll, 67, of Rosemount, MN, and formerly of Sheboygan, died early Wednesday morning, Dec. 9, 2009, at the Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul, MN.
He was born April 5, 1942, in Tomah, to the late Frank C. and Irene (Jensen) Rudoll.
Ron attended Tomah High School, received his bachelor’s degree from La Crosse State College and master’s from the University of North Dakota.
On Aug. 22, 1964, Ron and Judy (Friederichs) were married at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Tomah. Ron taught science for 35 years, 32 of which were in Sheboygan at Urban Jr. High and North High School. Ron also enjoyed coaching and during his career he coached basketball, girls fast pitch softball, and track. He enjoyed coaching slow pitch softball summers at Wildwood Park in Sheboygan. It would be impossible to put into words the dedication he felt to his students and the pride he took in his career.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; three children, Tracy (Gary) Gentry, Dana and Kendra of Durham, NC; Troy (Merri) Rudoll, Mitchell, Madilyn, Myles, McQuade and Milana of Lonsdale, MN; Travis (Nicole) Rudoll, Austin, Gavin, Cadin, Colin of Apple Valley MN; a sister, Alice (Harris) Dahle, Oakdale; a brother-in-law, Paul (Jenny) Friederichs of Oconomowoc; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Hank and Blanche Friederichs.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Dec. 11, at 1 p.m. at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 203 W. Monroe St., Tomah. The Very Rev. Steven J. Kachel will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call at St. Mary’s from noon until the time of the Mass.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Sunday, Dec. 13, at 3 p.m. at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church, 2133 N. 22nd St., Sheboygan. Father John Radetski will officiate. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of the Mass.

Gladys E. Rutlin
Gladys Eleanor Rutlin, 99, of Wyeville, died peacefully on Dec. 7, 2009, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born April 26, 1910, to Rose and Gustav Strehlow in Wauwatosa, WI, and lovingly raised by her mother Rose and step-father Frank Kealty. She was united in marriage to Ingolf Rutlin in 1928. Gladys worked at the Boston Store in Milwaukee as a cashier before moving to Wyeville in 1932. She was employed at the Army Radio School in Tomah until it closed in 1944, and retired from the Tomah VA Hospital in 1973, after 20 years of employment. Later in life she enjoyed spending her time feeding and watching all the wildlife near her home, knitting and cooking for her family. She especially loved playing cards, which kept her mind sharp and her spirit young.
She is survived by two sons, Don Rutlin of Mitchell, SD, and Ken Rutlin (Rena) of Wyeville; six grandchildren, Rick Rutlin of Brookfield, Shari Rutlin of Sun Prairie, Keith Rutlin (Connie) of Wisconsin Rapids, Sue Statz (Scott) of Madison, Kay Rutlin (Rob Castrovinci) of Portage, and Kurt Rutlin (Jill) of Warrens; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ingolf, in 1968; a brother, Gilbert; daughter-in-law, Charlotte, and granddaughter-in-law, Linda Rutlin.
A private family service was held at the Wyeville Cemetery on Tuesday, Dec. 8. The Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home of Tomah assisted the family with the arrangements.
Daniel S. Standiford
Daniel S. Standiford, 67, of Sparta, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse. He was born on Dec. 9, 1941, in Sparta, to James and Minerva (Bjerke) Standiford. He grew up in the Sparta and La Crosse area.
Daniel served in the U.S. Navy from Oct. 26, 1959, until being discharged on Feb. 11, 1963, when he was transfered from active duty to Navy Reserve. During his active duty he received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Cuba) for his service in the Bay of Pigs Invasion. He worked for the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Tomah for over 35 years with his last job assignment as a firefighter with the Veterans Administration Fire Department. He also volunteered with the Tomah Fire Department.
He lived in Tomah for many years and moved to Sparta after he retired in July of 1996. He was an active member of the V.F.W. Post 2112 in Sparta.
He is survived by a son, Steven (Cerena) Standiford of Lodi; a daughter, Lisa Mayo of Loganville, GA; eight grandchildren, Dane (Jessi), Shannon, Dusty, Danielle, Scott, Brad, Nicholas, Mitchel; a great-grandchild, Devlin; special friend, Sharon Teske of Sparta; four sisters, Sharon (Mack) Pruitt of Shasta Lake City, CA, Barbara (Wes) Dripps of Phoenix, AZ, Marilyn (Larry) Springer of Ankeny, IA, and Linda Sable of Ankeny, IA; five brothers, David (friend, Edith) Standiford of Holmen, Phillip (Maria) Standiford of Elk Run Heights, IA, John Standiford of Amarillo, TX, Jim (Linda) Standiford of Des Moines, IA, and Maurice (Nettie) Standiford of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Paul and Roger.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta, with Rev. Randy Larson officiating. Burial with full military honors provided by V.F.W. Post 2112 will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Angelo.

Henry W. Strohmeyer
Henry W. Strohmeyer, 85, of Camp Douglas, died Sunday Dec. 6, 2009, at Tomah Memorial Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born July 28, 1924, in Germany. His family made the long trip across the Atlantic ocean from Germany to America when he was 6 months old. They settled in the Elgin, IL, area, and that’s where he grew up. He met the love of his life Virginia Boehning while they were roller skating. They were united in marriage on Aug. 25, 1944, in Elgin, IL. She preceded him in death May 23, 2007. Henry had an opportunity to purchase a farm so he moved his family to the Camp Douglas area, where they have been living since the 1950s. Henry helped build the Petenwell Dam. Henry was a proud and hardworking dairy farmer. He worked for the Adams County Landfill for 21 years before retiring in 2007. He enjoyed working with his hands and was an excellent woodworker. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending his time fishing. He was a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Hustler. Henry was a devoted husband, a loving father, grandpa, great-grandpa, and brother. He was a great man who will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
He is survived by his sons, Henry C. (Alice) of Camp Douglas, William (Margaret) of Mauston, and Michael of Camp Douglas; his grandchildren, Scott Strohmeyer of Mauston, Andrea (David) Wallerman of Norwalk, Amy (Mike) Olsen of Cataract, Sara (Jarod) Peterson of Holmen, April Strohmeyer of Mauston, Michael (Beth) Strohmeyer of Camp Douglas, Matthew Strohmeyer of Mauston, Dennis (Jade) Strohmeyer of Hillsboro, and Andrew (his friend Jamie) Strohmeyer of Oakdale; his great-grandchildren, Dylan, Katlyn and Brent Riddlestine, Rylee, Payten, Brooklin and Spencer Strohmeyer, and Haylea Wallerman; a sister, Hilda (Merle) Jensen of New Lisbon; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held today (Thursday), Dec. 10, at 1 p.m. at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Hustler. Pastor Paul G. Heiderich officiated. Burial was in the Hustler Cemetery.
Relatives and friends called on Thursday at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
