The Tomah Middle School seventh-grade boys basketball team lost its first game of the season Thursday in a 24-21 loss vs. Sparta at LaGrange Elementary School.

Sparta used its superior size to outscore the Timberwolves, 11-7, in the fourth quarter to secure the win. Tomah led, 10-6, at halftime.

Dylan Derousseau led the Timberwolves with seven points. Justin Shie had six, Ethan Eckelberg scored four, while Zach Welch and Matt Mueller each contributed two.

In the “B” game, Sparta won, 21-14.

The Timberwolves return home Nov. 17 to face La Crosse Aquinas in a 4:30 p.m. start at LaGrange.
