Jean S. Case
Jean S. Case, age 85, of Ashland and formerly of Tomah, passed away Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, at her residence. She was born June 18, 1924, in Warrens, WI.
She had a big heart, a sweet disposition and was loved by everyone.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Duane (Danny) Snippen, Elk River, MN, Patty (Gary) Gilles, Stacy, MN, David (Myra) Snippen, Bloomer, Bob (Diana) Snippen, Ramsey, MN, Kathy (Bob) Marincel, Iron River, Diane (Greg) Persing, Overland Park, KS, Randy (Marge) Snippen, Wausau, Babs (Paul) Ratliff, Ashland, and other nieces and nephews.
A private family graveside gathering will be held in the Warrens Cemetery sometime in the future.
Arrangements are by Roberts Funeral Home, Ashland, WI.
Carl O. Connell
Carl Orville Connell, 79, of Las Vegas, entered into rest on Oct. 22, 2009, at St. Joseph Rehab Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Carl was born May 14, 1930, in Melrose Park, IL, to Ross Jacob and Gloria Blanche McLeod Connell.
Connell served four years in the U.S. Navy as a boiler technician aboard USS Lloyd Thomas. He was a retired owner of O’Connell Plumbing.
His places of residence have been: Las Vegas, NV, Franklin Park, IL, and Northlake, IL.
Survivors include his wife, Charletta LaVay Connell, and five children from his first marriage, Gary Lee Connell (Debbie) of Tomah, Wayne Bradley Connell (Anna) of Illinois, Linda Beth Connell Warthen (Gary) of Illinois, Kevin Gregory Connell (Lori) of Illinois and Robert “Bob” Darin Connell (Pamela) of Arkansas; and six step-children, Michael Pieson of New Jersey, Darlene Palatine of Illinois, Debra Connell of Illinois, Robert Piesen of Illinois, Tina Steger of Illinois and Tracy Leviner of Nevada; and a sister, Gloria Kathleen Connell Hein of Coal City, IL.
He was preceded in death by an infant son Keith Edward Connell and a step-daughter Cheryl Keating.
The family will have a private service at a later date.
Jon E. Hage
Jon E. Hage, 48, of Tomah, died Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at the Franciscan Skemp Healthcare Center, La Crosse. He was born Nov. 2, 1960, to Donald and Nancy (Pohle) Hage in Kenosha, WI. He was united in marriage to Karen McCann on Sunday, Oct., 25, 2009, in La Crosse. He worked as a cable installer for many years. His joy was traveling the United States prospecting for gold. He was a member of the Gold Prospectors Association of America. Jon was a family man. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; a daughter, Nicole Hage of Racine; three step-children, Jeremy (Jill) Loendorf, Joshua Loendorf and Jean Ann Loendorf, all of Tomah; six grandchildren, Adrianna Williams, Raemon “Monkey“ Loendorf, Jeremy Jr. Loendorf, Brielle Keichinger, Kade Keichinger, and Shaylea Loendorf; his father, Donald (Joan) Hage of Racine; a sister, Wendy (Ruben) Anchondo of Costa Mesa, CA; three brothers, Donald R. (Patricia) Hage of Alto, Ronald (Lori) Hage of Tomah, and Christopher (Reilly) Hage of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother “Mema”.
A funeral service will be held today (Thursday), Oct., 29, 2009, at 7 p.m. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St., Tomah. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
Relatives and friends are invited to call today at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until the time of the service.
Hazel L. Jerdee
Hazel L. Jerdee, 96, of Tomah, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at the Tomah Health Care Center. She was born Sept. 29, 1913, to John and Fern (Wells) Merchant at Ontario. She was confirmed June 1, 1924, in Ontario. She attended grade school in Norwalk. She was united in marriage to Reuben Jerdee, Dec. 15, 1931. He preceded her in death April 2, 1988. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed baking and canning and was known for having the best dill pickles in Monroe County. No one ever left Hazel’s house with an empty stomach or without extras to take home. She also had a great love and passion for horses, riding most of her young life.
Hazel is survived by a daughter, Judy (Robert) Helming of Tomah; a daughter-in-law, Ruby Jerdee of Tomah; five grandchildren, Debra Pergande of Tomah, Kathy (Chris) Martinson of Weirsdale, FL, Teresa (Glen) Hanson of Camp Douglas, Brian (Michelle) Jerdee of Tomah, and Kenneth (his friend Deanne) Jerdee of Tomah; 14 great-grandchildren, Jason, Ryan and Chad Pergande, all of Tomah, Tammy (friend Julie) Pergande of Warrens, Melissa Pergande of Milwaukee, U.S. Air Force Tech Sgt. Robert Martinson of Travis Air Force Base, CA, Amy (fiancé Michael Galbusieri) of Ocala, FL, Kristine (Nathan) Knight of Black River Falls, Angela (Paul) Brohmer of Tomah, Glen Hanson of Santa Cruz, CA, Quinton Hanson of Camp Douglas, Justin (Amber) Jerdee of Camp Douglas, Brooke (Kevin) Neitzel of Camp Douglas, Nicole (special friend Dustin Turner) Jerdee of Eau Claire; nine great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Betty Merchant and Flo Merchant, both of Tomah; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Reuben, her son Robert and five brothers, Glen, Harold, Earl, Leo and Boyd.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 31, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 525 Superior Ave, Tomah. Pastor David T. Brandt will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery in the Town of Tomah. Relatives and friends are invited to call at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of the service.
The Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, Tomah, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Ruth E. Richer
Ruth E. Richer, 78, of Tomah, died Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, at the Tomah Healthcare Center. She was born Aug. 21, 1931, to Harold and Louise (Diven) Parmer in Browntown, WI. She was united in marriage to Harry Handschy in the late 1950s. He preceded her in death in 1979. She was then united in marriage to Elliotte Richer on Aug. 4, 1979. She worked for the Tillman’s Chicken Plant in Wilton, several years as a Certified Nursing Assistant for the Tomah Healthcare Center and retired from the V.A. Medical Center where she had worked in patient services as an escort.
Ruth enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and latch hook. She enjoyed playing card games like canasta and working in the kitchen, canning and baking. She always had a friendly spunky personality that was contagious.
She is survived by four children, Debra (fiancé Clinton Sanwald) Murphy of Tomah, Harry Handschy of Tomah, Larry (Dawn) Handschy of Wilton and Steven (Stacey Siekert) Handschy of Sparta; five grandchildren, David (Beth) Lietz of Tomah, Jamie (fiancé Kit Wagner) of Baraboo, Mark Handschy of Wisconsin Rapids, and Daniel and David Heser, both of Tomah; four great-grandchildren, Ethan, Grace and Hope Lietz, and Vanessa Wagner; a sister, Frances Parmer of Adams-Friendship; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Harry and Elliotte; and two sisters, Karen Moore and Leona Page.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, Nov. 2, at 7 p.m. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St., Tomah. Ruth’s grandson David Lietz will officiate. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Wilton
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service.
Anna Rineck
Anna Rineck, 83, of Tomah, WI, was called home to Jesus Christ on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009. She was born on Oct. 21, 1925, to Herman and Alvina (Hornki) Behlke of Fall Creek.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, retired trooper Harold Rineck, a resident of Close To Home, Tomah; her daughter, Nancy Rineck of Phoenix, AZ; one brother, Richard Behlke of Eau Claire; her closest nephew Bernie and Gail Behlke of Deerbrook, WI, plus many other nieces and nephews and friends from all around the world. She was preceded in death by her parents and 10 siblings.
She was a retired Food Service Foreman at the V.A. Hospital, Tomah. She worshipped God at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church for 52 years. Her favorite hobbies were: traveling all over the world, reading, cooking, gardening, crocheting, needlepoint, collecting antiques of many kinds, rides in the country, attending auctions and garage sales; she was an avid card and backgammon player. She researched and wrote a book of her parents’ history and was her happiest when learning something new.
No public funeral service is to be held. The Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, Tomah, is assisting the family with arrangements.
