William Dade
William Dade, age 75, of Adams Friendship, WI, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, at the VA Medical Center in Tomah after a long illness. He was born on Sept. 16, 1933, in Elkhorn, WI.
He was a member of the Air Force and served in the Korean War. He grew up in Janesville and retired from General Motors in 1992 after more than 30 years. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and the DAV of Janesville and the Janesville Moose Club #197.
He is survived by his children, Shelli (John) Fiorenza, Teresa Martin and Angela (Brian) Sandberg; his grandchildren, Nicholas and Victoria Fiorenza and Regan and Brian Sandberg; his brother, Darwin (Jerri) Dade, and sisters, Charlotte (Jim) Zillmer, Mardell (James) Locust and Shirley Arndt. He was greatly cared for by his neighbors, Doug and Annie Barendt.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Patricia Edmundson.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 21, at 10:30 a.m. at the Milton Lawn Memorial Park in Janesville. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the chapel.
The Torkelson Funeral Home of Tomah is assisting the family with arrangements.

Qwendolyn G. Hill
Qwendolyn G. Hill, 44, of Tomah, passed away on Aug. 13, 2009, at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Tomah. She was born December 19, 1964 to Jesse “JC” and Benita (Barger) Hill in Beloit. She graduated from Beloit Catholic High School in 1983. Soon after high school entered the U.S. Army and served for seven years. Later she worked at the Madison and Tomah Veterans hospitals.
She is survived by her fiancé, Leo Wiley of Tomah; two sons, Marcus and Joshua McCray of Beloit; three daughters, Carla Hodges of Beloit and Breanna and Vivian Young of Chicago, IL; a brother, Kelly (Melissa) Hill of Janesville; nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Memorial Service was held at 5 p.m. on Aug. 19, at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home. Chaplain Maynard Hofer officiated. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Relatives and friends called at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until time of the service.
Barbara J. Isham
Barbara J. Isham (nee Becker), 57, of Tomah and formerly of Fall Creek, OR, died Sunday, Aug., 16, 2009, at the Franciscan Skemp Healthcare Center, La Crosse. She was born Feb. 11, 1952, to Edward and Jeannette (Kewit) Becker at Sparta. She attended the St. Mary’s Catholic grade school in Tomah and graduated from the Mary D. Bradford High School in Kenosha. She was united in marriage on July 26, 1986, to Clifford Isham in Walterville, OR. In her early years Barb worked as a waitress and bartender for the Holiday Lodge and the TeePee restaurants. While in Oregon she worked as a manager for various restaurants. Most recently she worked in the food service department at the VA Medical Center for the last eight years.
Barb enjoyed spending time outdoors camping and gardening. She and Cliff enjoyed traveling through the beautiful countryside of the Rocky and Big Horn Mountains. She also enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews and with her beloved “four-legged companions”, Bruno and Brady. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend and will be sadly missed by those who loved her.
She is survived by her husband Clifford; twin daughters, Kari (Marvin) Vetter of Pleasant Hills, OR, and Kristi Isham of Jackson, TN; a granddaughter, Nicky Westbrook of Murphysboro, TN; a brother, Mark (Bev) Becker of Tomah; three sisters, Mary Kearney of Wyeville, Jane Leighty of Tomah, and Rosemary (Joe) De Bartelo of Janesville; two brothers-in-law, Bill (Rosie) Isham of Eugene, OR, and Dave (Vicki) Isham of Salem, OR; three aunts, Ardella Gerke and Gladys Kewit, both of Tomah, and Jean Kewitt of Fort Meyers, FL; an uncle, Jim Kewit of Tomah, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John and Charles; her mother- and father-in-law, John and Dorothy Isham; a sister-in-law, Shirley Partridge, and a brother-in-law, Jim Partridge, many aunts and uncles, and a beloved pet Brutus.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. today (Thursday), Aug. 20, at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St., Tomah. Pastor Edwin Stigen will officiate.

Elmuth “Bud” Martalock
Elmuth “Bud” F. Martalock, 89, of Tomah, died Monday, Aug. 17, 2009, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Tomah. He was born July 28, 1920, to Almut and Delia (Steinke) Martalock on South Ridge. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, South Ridge. He attended the South Ridge Grade School. He was united in marriage to Darleen Hemerley on June 17, 1947, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kendall. Bud was a proud WWII U.S. Army veteran serving with the 14th Armored Division overseas in the European, African, and Middle Eastern Theaters; he fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Bud and Darleen farmed together in Black Valley for six years before moving to Tomah. He then worked as a mechanic for Fauska Implement Co. In 1959, they moved to Beloit where Bud worked for the Beloit Corp. as a set-up welder. He enjoyed traveling all over the United States while working for the Beloit Corp. In 1982, he retired after 23 years with the Beloit Corp., and Bud and Darleen returned to Tomah. Bud was a devoted and faithful member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Grassman-Sowle-Larsen-Senz American Legion Post # 201 and a lifetime member of the Curtis-McNutt V.F.W. Post #1382. He enjoyed the outdoors spending time hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, and hunting morel mushrooms. Bud enjoyed doing anything where he could work with his hands. He also enjoyed playing bingo and cards with the local card clubs. He enjoyed car rides with his wife while looking for wildlife. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his great-great grandchild - they were the “sunshine” in his day. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Darleen; a son, Alan (Pam) of Beloit; a daughter, Linda (Clarence “Butch”) Martin of Tomah; 10 grandchildren, Kay (special friend Rudy), Andy (Cyndi), Sara, Ruth (Jim) Lynch, Lora, all of Beloit, Misty of Elgin, IL, Eve of England, Jesse (Laurie) Rinehart of Tomah, Amy (Josh) Larsen and Chad (Jenny) Martin, all of Tomah;17 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; two sisters, Marceda Hansen of Tomah and Ruby Rydzewski of Kenton, MI, and a brother, Frank (Darlene) Martalock of Ontario; two sisters-in-law, Ramona (Russ) Waterworth of Columbus, WI and Judy Kessenich of Silver Spring, MD and a brother-in-law, Vernie (Lucile) Hemerley of Tomah, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Vernal “Butch”; a grandson, Alan Jr.; a brother, Albert; two sisters, Leona Preuss and an Infant sister Bernice; three brothers-in-law, Edwin Rydzewski, Fred Hansen and Everett Hemerley, and a sister-in-law, Arlene Martalock.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 22, at 11 a.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 310 W. Elizabeth St., Tomah. Pastor David Dahl will officiate. Burial with military honors by Curtis McNutt V.F.W. Post #1382 will be in the South Ridge Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Wellington.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, Aug. 21, at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St., Tomah, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Memorials may be given in Bud’s memory to the Tomah DAV or the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church building fund.
Anthony “Andy” Q. Williams
Anthony “Andy” Q. Williams, 24, of Warrens passed, Aug. 16, 2009. He was born Oct. 17, 1984, to Clayton and Loretta (Sanwald) Williams in Black River Falls. He met the love of his life, Amy Jo Peterson, and they exchanged wedding vows on Oct. 8, 2006, at the Victory Assembly of God Church in Mather.
Andy loved fishing, hunting, camping and most of all he loved hanging out with his family and friends. He was a jack-of-all-trades and loved helping anyone in need. He was loved by all who knew him. He was a wonderful father, husband, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend,
He is survived by his wife, Amy Jo; three children, Anthony Jr., Ally Marie and an unborn child; his mother, Loretta (Albert) Babcock of Tomah; his father, Clayton (Shirley) Williams of Mather; three brothers, Henry Williams of Babcock, Bruce Williams of Tomah and Clifford Williams (Stevie) of Sparta; a sister, Sonja (Danny) Godfrey of Burman, AL; nieces, Laycie, Destiny, Shiann and Hailey; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jeff (Sharmaine) Peterson of Tomah, a sister-in-law, Sharon (Armin) Wand, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents and maternal grandparents.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. today (Thursday) Aug. 20, at the Victory Assembly of God Church, Mather. Pastor Daren DeFord officiated. Burial was in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Town of Scott.
Relatives and friends called at the church on today from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
