Beverly A. Mesner

Beverly A. Mesner, 79, of Tomah, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009, at Tomah Memorial Hospital. She was born May 1, 1930, to Herbert and Laura (Graham) Schweppe in Iowa City, IA. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith on March 25, 1945. She was a member of the Tomah Senior High School Graduating Class of 1949. She was united in marriage to Robert Sorenson in 1951. He preceded her in death on May 5, 1998. She was united in marriage to Lloyd Mesner on Aug. 13, 2005. She worked for Sorenson Incorporated until she went to work for the Toro Company. She worked for Toro for over 30 years until her retirement. She was a member of the Laureate Theta Bridge Tournament. She was a faithful member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church. She enjoyed knitting, bird watching and working in her flower garden. She especially enjoyed her trips to the area casinos with Lloyd and their friends; Beverly also said that when she married Lloyd she hit the jackpot. She also had an interest in gadgets; if there was something that was new and made things easier, Beverly was always willing to try it out. She had a special companion in her cat Molly. She will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by a daughter, Suzanne “Suzy” (her significant other Brett Arroyo) of Green Bay; a son, Robert Sorenson of New York City, NY; two step-sons Robert (UdaLee) Mesner of Fall Church, VA, and Richard (Katherine) Mesner of Larton, VA; three step-grandchildren, Joseph Mesner, Jayme Mesner and Abbey (Joel) Burmania; five step-great-grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, and a brother, Earl.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 15, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 525 Superior Ave., Tomah. Pastor Curt C. Backhaus officiated. Relatives and friends called on Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

The Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, Tomah, assisted the family with the arrangements.
