Ronald J. Deline, Douglas Dupeé, Frances E. Griffin, Violet C. Hancock, Harold M. Hanson, Alma D. Poss

Ronald J. Deline

Ronald John Deline, Jr., 57, of Tomah, died July 18, 2009, at the V.A. Medical Center, Madison. He was born April 8, 1952, to Durward and Eileen (Johnson) Deline at Eau Claire. Ronald was baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eau Claire. He was a 1971 graduate of Eau Claire North High School and a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked as a security guard for the Pinkerton Security Company. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in the Augusta area.

He is survived by a daughter, Lisa Ann; a grandson, Joseph; three sisters, Charlene Deline of Stanley, Marian (Chuck) Hudson and Rochelle (Bob) Horsley, all of Round Rock, TX.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister Mary.

A Memorial Mass was held Wednesday, July 22, at 2 p.m. at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 303 W. Monroe St., Tomah. The Very Rev. Steven J. Kachel officiated. Burial was on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Eau Claire, with military honors by the Eau Claire American Legion Post #53. Deacon Larry Agema officiated the committal service.

Relatives and friends called at the church on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until time of the service.

The Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, Tomah, assisted the family with the arrangements.

Douglas Dupeé

Douglas A. Dupeé, age 70, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 20, 2009. His loving wife Ellen and sister Vivian were at his side when his courageous battle with illness ended. He was born on July 23, 1938, in Wyeville, WI, the son of Otto and Sarah (Baldwin) Dupeé. Doug was married to Ellen Schmeider on Nov. 3, 1956, in Tomah, WI, at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Doug was the owner of the Buckhorn Bar in Tomah. Doug was also employed with the Veterans Administration Hospital in Tomah, and later transferred to the Roseburg, OR Veterans Hospital in 1971. He retired from the VA in 1994. Doug was very active and loved working at St. Paul Lutheran Church and School in Roseburg. Doug was a huge Green Bay Packer fan and loved watching his granddaughters Maddie and Syd play soccer.

Doug is survived by his wife Ellen and son Kevin (Lorie) Dupeé and sister Vivian (Dupeé) Fisher. Preceding him in death were his two daughters Kim Dupeé and Kory (Dupeé) Holborow. Other beloved family members include Chris and Mandy Holborow and their five children, Madison, Sydney, Kael, Jack and Delaney. His other grandchildren are Nicole Dupeé, Amanda and Spencer Hulbert. Doug loved his extended family and friends, which include brother-in-law Larry Schmieder, sister-in-law Loraine Monte, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Doug was also preceded in death by his parents; sister Velma; brothers Will, Don and Otis; and brother-in-law Elmer Fisher.

A memorial service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 750 Keady Court, Roseburg, OR, on Saturday, July 25, at 2 p.m. Officiating will be Pastor Phil Brandt.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mercy Hospice Care.

Frances E. Griffin

Frances E. Griffin, 92, of Warrens, died Monday, July 20, 2009, at Franciscan Skemp Healthcare Center at Sparta. She was born June 6, 1917, to Allie and Dora (Brown) Daniels at Sparta. She was united in marriage to Kenneth L. Griffin April 13, 1936, in Sparta. He preceded her in death March 22, 1997. When she was young she enjoyed horseback riding and playing softball with her brothers. She liked gardening, baking, playing cards, and playing board games, especially Yahtzee. She also enjoyed going for rides in the car with her friends and family.

She is survived by a son, Blaine Griffin of Warrens; two daughters, Marie (Donald) Doers of Warrens and Lorraine Skidmore of Menomonee Falls; five grandchildren, Debra (John) Marg of Black River Falls, Tammy (Todd) Darst of Northfield, Kevin (Karen) Doers of Warrens, Randy Skidmore of Menomonee Falls and Teresa Skidmore of Germantown; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Lou Ann Daniels of Beloit, Ardella Daniels of Millston and Leola Griffin of Tomah, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five brothers Lawrence, Oscar, Kenneth, Donald, and Duane, a sister-in-law Clair Daniels.

A private service was held on Thursday, July 23, at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, Tomah. Rev. Matthew R. Ude officiated. Burial was in the Warren Mills Cemetery at Warrens.

Violet C. Hancock

Violet C. Hancock, age 94, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at the Franciscan Skemp Medical Center in Sparta, WI. She was born on March 21, 1915, to James and Marie Nelson in the Town of Oakdale, WI. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Camp Douglas. She graduated from Camp Douglas High School.

She married Eddie A. Hancock and they divorced in 1963. She lived on the family farm until selling it and moving in with Edith Johnson to help care for their father and mother. After their parents’ death, she went to work at different jobs, finally getting a job at Tomah Memorial Hospital as an Insurance secretary, retiring in 1980.

Violet was an active member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church until she was having health problems. She served on the St. Stephen’s Cemetery Board for 25 years. She enjoyed crocheting and making the Lord’s Prayer wall hangings for all the children and grandchildren. She had resided at the Morrow Memorial Home since July 2006.

She is survived by her daughter, Elaine (Marvin) Fritz of Holmen, and her son, James (Mary Kaye) Hancock of Minneapolis, MN; three grandchildren, Gregory (Cheryl) Fritz of Ramsey, MN, Gary Fritz of Reedsburg, and Gloriane (Richard) Mayer of Onalaska; two great-grandchildren, Derek and Brandon Fritz of Ramsey, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents and step-sister, Edith Johnson.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 27, at 11 a.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Tomah. Pastor William Rice will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Stephen’s Lutheran Cemetery, Camp Douglas. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Harold M. Hanson

Harold M. “Fuzz” Hanson, age 84, of Camp Douglas, died on Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at the Tomah Care Center. He was the son of Christ and Mary (Quist) Hanson and was born on Dec. 9, 1924, in the township of Clifton in Monroe County. Harold attended school at the Clifton Corners grade school. He farmed with his parents until 1947, when he bought his own farm. Harold was united in marriage to Grace Frohmader on April 17, 1971, at St. James Catholic Church in Camp Douglas. Harold enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, raising potatoes, and working with his horses and mules.

Harold is survived by his wife, Grace; a brother, Leroy (Joyce) Hanson of Camp Douglas; two sisters, Dorothy (the late Maurice) Elsing of Kendall and Geneva (the late Clifford) Martinson of Camp Douglas, and special friends Kevin and Karen Kriigel of Camp Douglas, and many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Alvin and Melvin, sisters, Evelyn Elsing and Eleanor Andres, sisters-in-law Joyce Hanson, Donna Hanson, Ethel Cindric and Elaine Frohmader, brothers-in-law Maurice Elsing, Clifford Martinson, George Elsing, Lester Andrews, Bruce Ziegler, Irvin Frohmader Jr. and George Cindric.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 25, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Camp Douglas. Burial will be in the Camp Douglas Village Cemetery. Rev. Russell Trachte will officiate.

Relatives and friends may call at the Hare Funeral Home in New Lisbon on Friday, July 24, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

Alma D. Poss

Alma D. Poss, 93, of Tomah, died Friday, July 17, 2009, at her home. She was born April 22, 1916, to Frederick and Hulda (Schmalz) Baumbach at Hannibal, WI.

She was baptized May 16, 1916, and confirmed May 29, 1930, at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Sparta. She was united in marriage to George Poss Oct. 30, 1936, at Waukon, IA. He preceded her in death June 12, 1987.

She was a faithful member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church and a member of the Mission Circle, the Grace Circle and the Ladies Aid. She was a member of the Tarr Valley Homemakers and a tutor at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Elementary School.

She worked in the Dietary Department of the VA Medical Center in Tomah.

She is survived by a daughter, Jo Anne (Harry) Peth of Tomah; two sons, Dennis (Tomi) of Anchorage, AK, and Earl (Suzie) Habheggar of Richardson, TX; a sister-in-law, Myrna Baumbach of Orlando, FL; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; a daughter, Cindy Pingle; a grandson, Jay Poss, and two brothers, Harlan and Ralph.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 21, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 525 Superior Ave., Tomah. Pastor Donald R. Buch officiated. Burial was in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Sparta.

Relatives and friends called at the church on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.

Memorials in memory of Alma may be given to the St. Paul LES student assistance fund.

The Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
