Peggy M. Baldwin
Peggy M. Baldwin, 87, of Tomah, died peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at the Tomah Health Care Center. She was born April 22, 1922, to Ralph and Jennie (Cooke) Cripps at Independence. She was united in marriage to Lloyd Baldwin Oct. 20, 1937. He preceded her in death. Shortly after getting married, Lloyd and Peggy moved to Valley Junction and resided there for most of their lives.
Peggy spent her early years raising her children. Her love of children didn’t stop there; she ran a daycare center from her home, taking care of neighboring children and many of her own grandchildren and great- grandchildren. The smell of fresh baked homemade bread and pies were often found in her home. She also loved to dance.
She is survived by eight sons, Arthur (Frances) of Valley Junction, Ronald of Denver, CO, Teddy of Colorado Springs, CO, Harvey (Rebecca) of Black River Falls, Jeffery Baldwin of Tomah, Bradly (special friend Michelle Rabine) and Scott, both of Valley Junction and David (Diane) of Necedah; seven daughters, Elizabeth “Liz” (Edward) Brown of Tomah, Ruth Clark of Wyeville, Juanita (Gerald) Rudolph of Wyeville, Joyce (Larry) Clark of Necedah, Cathy (Heinz) Scherreiks of Tomah, Margaret Taylor of Tomah and Carol Baldwin of Wyeville; 39 grandchildren, 72 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; a brother Samuel (Patsy) Cripps of California; a sister, Maureen Brown of California,; a sister-in-law, Agnes Baldwin of Tomah; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded by her parents, Ralph and Jennie; her husband Lloyd; two infant children; two brothers, William and Charles Cripps; a sister, Ruth Ribby; a brother-in-law, Howard Ribby; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and a son-in-law, Leo Clark.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, July 7, at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 115 W. La Crosse St., Tomah. Pastor Edwin W. Stigen will officiate. Burial will be in the Wood Cemetery, Town of Byron.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
