JoAnn E. Yates

FREEPORT, IL - JoAnn E. Yates, 59, of Freeport, IL (formerly of Tomah), passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2009, in Freeport after a short illness.

JoAnn was born in Sparta on Jan. 30, 1950, the daughter of Lynn and Miriam (Shaw) Yates. She grew up in Tomah and was baptized and confirmed at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. She attended and graduated from Tomah High School. After graduation, JoAnn moved to Madison and later to Freeport.

She is survived by her daughter, Paula, and three grandchildren, all of Freeport.

She is further survived by two sisters, Margaret Belk of Lake Mills, WI, and Katherine (Don) Lautzenhiser of Madison; four brothers, Gary (Sujan) of Huntington Beach, CA, Bruce (Lori) of Tomah, Tom (Janyce) of Mesa, AZ, and Mark (Linda) of Jacksonville, FL; and nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and friends.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, uncles and an aunt.

The Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home of Freeport is assisting with arrangements which are pending.
