SPARTA — The Sparta Police Department and Monroe County Sheriff’s Department announced Wednesday the pending release of a sex offender in Sparta.

Raymond D. Damouth is scheduled for release back into the community Oct. 14. Upon his release, Damouth will temporarily reside at 101½ S. Water St., Sparta. It is expected that Damouth will reside at this location for about a month, after which it is anticipated that he will have secured employment and appropriate housing.

Damouth is a lifetime registrant of the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry. The offense that required registration with the Sex Offender Registry was first-degree sexual assault of a child. The victim in this case was a minor female acquaintance, age 12. Damouth has a prior conviction for fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct in Michigan. Upon his release, he will be under supervision by the Wisconsin Division of Community Corrections and will be required to comply with all rules of the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry Program.

“This sex offender is not wanted by the police at this time. This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather, it is our belief that an informed public is a safer public,” authorities said in a press release.

" I especially love the line in this article "This sex offender is not wanted by the police at this time"--give it time I guess.
He is a repeat offender. You think he lost the urge? "

" Well, some people think people should rot in jail for killing their babies, but we still respect a womans right to choose to do so. We should show men the same consideration. "

" A man's lifestyle....he assaulted a 12 year old....that's just sick. All sex offenders should ROT in jail for the rest of their life....Our children don't need to be afraid to walk home, play at a playground or park....
Sick people out there!! "

" As I stated on the other story, this really isn't so bad. We just all need to be tolerant and accepting of this mans alternative lifestyle, and refrain from infringing on his right to choose. "
