92nd District Assembly Candidates Forum at Ground Round Oct. 7

The candidates in the 92nd District State Assembly race will get a chance to make their cases at the Greater Tomah Area Chamber of Commerce 92nd Assembly Candidates Forum at noon on Oct. 7 at the Cranberry Country Lodge.

Democratic Party candidate Mark Radcliffe and Republican Dan Hellman will be on hand to answer questions during the forum, which will last roughly an hour. Chris Hardie, Tomah Journal publisher and co-chairman of the Greater Tomah Area Chamber of Commerce, will moderate the forum. Each candidate will have an allotted time to reply to questions. The audience will be encouraged to ask questions, but they must be submitted in writing to the moderator to allow for as many questions as possible on a variety of topics.

“While all elections are important, this year the voters in the 92nd Assembly District will send a new representative to Madison,” Hardie said. “Getting to know the candidates and where they stand on the issues is critical to making an informed decision on Election Day.”

Radcliffe, an attorney from Black River Falls, and Hellman, a former Monroe County District Attorney and Sparta businessman, are seeking the assembly seat vacated by Rep. Terry Musser, R-Black River Falls.

The Chamber of Commerce will host the event in conjunction with the Tomah Rotary. Lunch will be catered at the event by the Ground Round. The cost for lunch is $10, and reservations can be made through the Greater Tomah Area Chamber of Commerce Office by Oct. 6. Chris Hanson, Director of the Greater Tomah Area Chamber of Commerce, said that the forum is an excellent way to get to know the candidates firsthand.

“The mayoral and city council member forums we held in the spring were highly successful at getting information out to different people in the community,” Hanson said. “We are looking to do the same thing at the assembly level. Both candidates have some very good points, and this is the best way for community members to get information firsthand.”
