Tomah’s Corey Jankowski won the feature, but Travis Hancock of Mauston won the the points title.
Jankowski and Hancock took a sizzling Super Stock duel to the final weekend that ended Saturday with Hancock gaining a narrow win in the season points standings at Dells Raceway Park near Wisconsin Dells.
Mike Lichtfield led by as many as 10 car lengths in the Super Stock feature before Jankowski closed the gap in the final laps. Jankowski went to the inside of Lichtfeld and took the win by a bumper over Lichtfeld.
Hancock, however, finished third, which was enough to stave off Jankowski in the points race. Hancock’s razor-thin margin was just three points.
Hancock set a new track record in qualifying with a time of 14.629 seconds (82.028 mph).
In the Limited Late Models, Cardell Potter of Camp Douglas capped his Rookie of the Year season by winning the feature race.
Potter jumped to the early lead over Shane Poehnelt as the green flag flew and led from start to finish. Most of the drama was in Potter’s rear-view mirror from drivers battling for the season points lead (Potter entered the race in seventh place).
Potter led the field by nearly a straightaway when he took his second checkered flag of the season.
