Published - Monday, July 21, 2008 TMH showcases new Warrens Clinic Tomah Memorial Hospital’s new Warrens Walk-In Clinic opened its doors to the public for an open house on Thursday, showcasing the new facility that opened on June 16. Guests filled the lobby of the clinic and toured the 4,000 square foot facility, which is located on the east edge of the village along County Highway EW and Interstate 94 near Jellystone Park. The clinic was built to serve Warrens residents and visitors to the nearby Three Bears Resort and Jellystone Park as a new healthcare option for treatment of minor illnesses and injuries. In its first month, the clinic has been steadily busy. “I would say we have been seeing a steady volume of patients,” Emergency Services Director Tracy Myhre said. “We have been getting a mix of people from Jellystone and Warrens residents.” The facility is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the summer months, and is staffed by three to four people, including a receptionist, nurses’ aide, and advanced practice nurse practitioners who are licensed to write prescriptions and diagnose and treat illnesses like sore throats, ear infections and upper respiratory infections. Routine laboratory tests can also be conducted at the clinic, as well as X-rays. Visitors got to walk through the clinic on Thursday and view its three exam rooms, including one with an orthopaedic table. The exam rooms also feature computers with digital radiography, which can be viewed at Tomah Memorial. The clinic also has a full radiology room, two additional offices and a break room. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the conclusion of the open house at 4:30 p.m. Myhre said that the clinic has been doing what it was made for, and that it is open to anyone. “People from Tomah can come here with non-emergency situations, too,” Myhre said. “This is for anyone in the area.”
