The Greater Tomah Area Chamber of Commerce and Convention and Visitors Bureau has unveiled its newly redesigned website www.tomahwisconsin.com. The site went live on Tuesday, July 1.

Chamber Executive Director Chris Hanson said the redesign is a way to enhance the website visually, as well as make it easier for users to navigate. “It is a recommended tourism industry standard to change your website every couple of years to keep it fresh and exciting for potential visitors. We had our old website for nearly three years, so it was time for a change,” Hanson said. “We also wanted to make a few changes to the content of the site, so this was the perfect opportunity.”

The website represents four entities in Tomah: The Chamber of Commerce, Convention and Visitors Bureau, Forward Tomah Development, Inc., and the City of Tomah. According to Hanson, having just one website for the community makes it easier for anyone looking for information.

“There are many communities out there who have several different websites representing their city: One for tourism, one for the Chamber and one for city government. That just confuses your web visitor. What we have here incorporates all that information under one site, making it a one-stop informational shop for Tomah,” Hanson said.

Kelly Murray, marketing coordinator for the Convention and Visitors Bureau, outlined a few of the additions to the new site. “New sections to the website include a detailed, color city map, additional information in the ‘Things To Do’ section and updated photos,” Murray said. “We also added a ‘Moving to Tomah’ section for those people who are looking to relocate to the area.”

Hanson added that a complete redesign can be a long, drawn-out process. “Most of the credit goes to Kelly Murray and our web designer, Cindy Ziegler,” Hanson said. “They worked tirelessly to ensure that the site was completed in time. We are very happy with their finished work.”
