There wasn’t a more effective player in the Mississippi Valley Conference at gaining possession in the midfield than Tomah’s Nikki Reinart.
Her dominance of the midfield won the respect of the MVC girls soccer coaches.
Reinart, a junior, was honored as a first team selection on the all-MVC squad. She was one of three players nominated as Player of the Year.
“I think the coaches respected Nikki’s dedication and the passion she has for the game,” Tomah coach Dale Jonson said. “She’s an aggressive player but not a dirty player. Whenever we lost possession, she always fought hard to get the ball back.”
Two Tomah players -- forward Jorden James and defensive midfielder Nicole Vollmer -- made the second team. Both are juniors. Jonson said James gave the Timberwolves a speedy attacker who could convert scoring opportunities, while Vollmer thwarted numerous attacks from the opposition and initiated Tomah’s own buildups on offense.
Two other Timberwolves’ players were honorable mention -- attacking midfielder Kelsey Gnewikow, a senior, and defender Brandi Patterman, a junior.
“To have players at four different positions to have received all-conference recognition coming back next year is exciting,” Jonson said. “We’re really optimistic about next season.”
