" Those who choose to waste their money to burn it up should be required to buy a permit -- not $5, but $50 at least. I've seen some of the stupidest neighbors lighting fireworks into the street, at passing vehicles -- including at motorcycles, onto our home, and even into their own garages. Ya' just can't fight ignorance, so you might as well profit from it! Call the police? Sure, but the stupid know enough to hide when the squads come around the corner. "

" I hate that when I do that. Should have used Word with spell check. It wasn't a grammatical error anyway, that is sentence structure. Spelling error. As far as Answer goes, don't know for sure but from what I had heard in the past is that if even if you wanted the permit Tomah won't sell you one. "

" State and many city laws require you to have a permit to use fireworks. How hard is it for people to ask how much for the permit and than get one and than not have to worry about the police. Most of the fireworks sold here in Tomah require a "Class C" Fireworks permit.
SWEET AND SIMPLE YOU WANT TO USE THIS TYPE OF FIREWORKS GET A PERMIT OR PAY THE PAUPER. "

" Even in states where fireworks are legal, cities ban thier use. They then set up "safe Zones" where folks can go light up the sky.
I read where in San Antonio, TX, the police are enforcing the no fireworks law by stopping cars suspected of carrying fireworks.
I agree with the person asking "why sell it if it's illegal". Fireworks sold in Tomah only to those transporting them to a state/city where it is legal to use them? Yeah sure.
Then they wonder why the 911 calls with reports of fireworks going off, accidents, fires, etc. Maybe if they were legal, there wouldn't be so many accidents because those using them would be looking at the fuse and not over thier shoulder for the police. "

" First off, you have a grammatical error, but it made me smile!!!! I agree with you on the Officer Melanie issue, but lets throw in Officer Brittany, and then let your friends get away with crap and inform them of ongoing police issues so they can harrass the victims & then nothing gets done!!!!!!!!!! "

" I could care less if fireworks are legal or not but I do agree wiht the others so far. how ridiculous is it to see the tents pop up to sell them and have 3 places on 21 getting permits to sell the stuff then can't use them. Why doesn't the city just sell $5 permits to blow them off and forget about sending the cops out to investigate. If the city wants to make money on tickets they should let Officer Melanie sit at the intersection of 12 and 21 and catch all the clowns making illegal u-turns and left turns from the straight lane. "

" this is the same for a lot of things that are sold to the public in retail stores. its sicking to walk in a store and buy something, walk out and put that product to use just to be told its illegal.. ex window tint, car sterio systems, lights, fire works... its all a money issue for some reason our gov. thinks its ok to sell you something and then turn around and fine you for it.... how is that rite "

" The cops here light off these illegal fireworks in their backyards, and let their kids play with them.
Anyway, if this is the case, why do certain cities sponsor "Safe and Sane" tents with fountains and crackle balls??? "

" Gasoline?? and candles??? ...there's an idea! LOL...that "place where it is ok to use them" will be the entire city of Tomah on the 4th and several days before and after. It's impossible to enforce. Just read the police
blotter a few weeks after the 4th. One call to the PD after another...i.e. "report of fireworks, at (fill in the address) and upon arrival no one around" If the fireworks cannot be used legally, they should not be sold since the retailer doesn't know or care where they're shot off. "
