THS student taken into custody for marijuana possession on school grounds

A Tomah High School student was taken into custody by the Tomah Police Department after a drug investigation on school grounds Monday.

Tomah Police Department School Resource Officer Melanie Marshall received an anonymous tip of a vehicle occupied by students that possibly contained marijuana around 11:30 a.m. Monday. Officers were able to locate the vehicle in the Tomah High School parking lot and contacted the occupants. Officers substantiated that Joshua M. Leston, who was a passenger in the vehicle, possessed marijuana.

During the investigation, officers seized 22 grams of marijuana on school property. Leston was taken into custody and secured in the Monroe County Jail. The case will be referred to the Monroe COunty District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
