Gene graduated from Tomah High School in May of 1950 and subsequently pursued a successful career in the U.S. Air Force. While serving his country, he rose from the entry-level rank of private to the rank of major. Major Prescott’s illustrious military career and his effective involvement in the security of the United States was recognized and rewarded with numerous medals, citations, awards and honors. He was most proud of receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross while serving in the Vietnam War. He retired from the U.S. Air Force on March 31, 1970, and moved back to his hometown of Tomah.
