Published - Friday, May 02, 2008 Aquinas survives Tomah baseball trip It shouldn’t have been a competitive game. La Crosse Aquinas led the Mississippi Valley Conference with a 5-0 record and was the number-one ranked team in Division 3. Tomah was coming off a humbling 27-2 MVC loss at La Crosse Central three days earlier. Instead, Aquinas was lucky to leave Tomah with its undefeated MVC record intact. The Timberwolves gave Aquinas everything it wanted Tuesday before losing, 11-9, at Dennis Senz Field. The Timberwolves fell to 1-5 in the MVC and 2-8 overall. It was clear by the third inning that the Blugolds were in for a competitive game. The Timberwolves erased a 4-1 deficit with a bases-loaded walk by Kevin Barth followed by a bases-loaded triple from Tyler Felber. Felber then scored on Dustin Christner’s groundout to give Tomah a 6-4 lead. Tomah got another big hit from Felber in the fourth. After Trevor Ludeking and Barth drew walks with two outs and advanced to second and third on a balk, Felber delivered a two-run single that put Tomah ahead, 8-6. Tomah, however, scored just one run after relief pitcher Jason King entered the game to start the fifth. King allowed just one baserunner over the final three innings. Tomah’s Monday non-conference doubleheader against Hudson was rained out. It won’t be rescheduled.
