Coach Spike Lindley’s Tomah High School junior varsity softball team gained a split of its last two games.
Eleven errors proved the Timberwolves’ undoing in a 15-9 setback at Holmen April 17. The fielding undermined a big Tomah effort at the plate. Kala Lindley led the offense by going 2-for-2 with a triple.
Heather Fleming was 1-for-2 with a double, while Clarissa Hoeth, Brittney Swanson and Alicia Nofsinger all had one hit.
Lindley pitched a complete game. She struck out 10 and walked eight.
Tomah returned home against Onalaska and delivered a more solid defensive effort in a 16-3 rout. Lindley struck out 11 while walking four and striking out two.
Lindley was also Tomah’s top hitter. She was 3-for-4 with a triple and a double and got plenty of help from her teammates. Nofsinger and Maggie Reardon were 2-for-3, Swanson was 2-for-4, and Elizabeth Tessman was 1-for-2.
The jayvees have two home games this week -- Tuesday against La Crosse Central and Thursday against La Crosse Logan. Both games are 4:30 p.m. starts at the D.C. Dade Softball Complex.
