The Tomah High School girls soccer squad didn’t score against Onalaska Tuesday, but the Timberwolves struck a blow against Onalaska’s bid to win a fourth straight Mississippi Valley Conference championship.
One-hundred minutes of soccer couldn’t produce a winner as the two teams battled to a 0-0 tie at the Veterans Administration Hospital Field. Onalaska needed the win to stay within two games of La Crosse Aquinas, which stayed unbeaten in the MVC with a 4-0 win over Sparta.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net as Tomah’s Kylie Dietzman (eight saves) and McKenzie Guth (10 saves) stopped everything.
“Both teams had a couple of chances, but the chances we had were denied,” Tomah coach Dale Jonson said.
Tomah’s overall record moved to 5-6-1. The Timberwolves are 2-3-1 in the MVC.
Tomah returns home Tuesday to host La Crosse Central in a 7 p.m. start at E.J. McKean Field.
