Thelma Mashin, age 93, of Neillsville, WI, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at the Memorial Medical Center in Neillsville.
Thelma Dorthea Mashin was born on Sept. 12, 1914, in the Township of Grant, Clark County, WI, the daughter of Warren and Helen (Luck) Hake. She graduated from Neillsville High School and then attended Beautician School in Eau Claire. She was united in marriage to Albert Mashin on Sept. 16, 1936, in Neillsville. They farmed for one year north of Neillsville. Then they moved to Neillsville and operated a bottled milk business for many years, delivering to businesses and door-to-door. When that business sold, Thelma worked at the Farmer’s Store for many years. In their later years, after retiring, they spent their winter months in Naples, FL, where Albert built a home. They had many card playing friends in Neillsville and Naples.
Thelma is survived by two children, Joyce (Terry) Becker of Neillsville and DeWayne (Jane) Mashin of Tomah; six grandchildren, Cindy (Jim) Ehlers of Neillsville, Tammy Becker of Palm Springs, CA, Ronny (Lois) Mashin of Mount Calvary, WI, Randy (Kathy) Mashin of Frankfort, IL, Richell (Josh) Kufahl of Tomah and Rhea (Leon) Keeton of Tomah; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Warren Hake; a sister, Viola MacWilliams; a brother, Dale Hake; and her husband, Albert.
A memorial service for Thelma will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 25, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Pastor James Mohr will officiate. Music will be provided by Eileen Zank, organist. Inurnment will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 until 11 a.m., Friday, April 25, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville.
The Gesche Funeral Home is assisting Thelma’s family with funeral arrangements.
Steven F. Scott
Steven F. Scott, 61, formerly of Beloit, WI, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at the Tomah Veterans Hospital, Tomah, WI.
He was born Oct. 11, 1946, in Appleton, the son of Dale and Doris Christopher Scott. Steven was a veteran of the U.S. Marines.
Steven was employed by Die Casting in Mauston. He loved spending time with family, friends and his dogs. Steven was well known for his humor. He joked and made friends with everyone. Steve enjoyed volunteering at the Tomah VA and helping out others whenever he could.
Survivors include his children, Steve (Elizabeth) Scott of Machesney Park, IL, John Scott and Jeff Scott, both of St. Paul, MN, Eric Scott of Rockford, IL, and Linzi Kaat of Madison; grandchildren, Cameron, Carter, Keeton and Kamaya; sisters and brother, Jodi (Jim) Kosak of Texas, Joni (Bill Johnson) Parrish of Beloit and Bill (Delanie) Griep of Elkhorn; several nieces and nephews; dear friends, John “Sammy” Hills of Beloit and Marvin Hill of Tomah.
He was predeceased by his parents and stepfather, Elmer Griep.
A memorial service was at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 19, in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, with Pastor David Meding officiating. Military rites were accorded by the VFW Post #2306. There was no visitation.
