Published - Friday, April 18, 2008 West Salem rallies past soccer squad West Salem exploded for three goals in the first nine minutes of the second half to hand the Tomah High School girls soccer team a 3-2 setback at E.J. McKean Field. Tomah fell to 3-4 overall and 1-2 in the Mississippi Valley Conference. West Salem improved its overall record to 1-3. It was Tomah’s first match at E.J. McKean Field after playing three homes matches at the Veterans Administration Field Nikki Reinart gave Tomah a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute, and Tomah dominated the rest of the half but couldn’t pad its lead. Tomah outshot the Panthers, 7-2, in the first half. West Salem tied the match just one minute into the second half and then took the lead in the 47th minute. Vanessa Pintarro tied the match a minute later, but West Salem scored its third goal a minute after that, and the two teams were scoreless during the final 31 minutes. Tomah travels to the Janesville Invitational Friday and Saturday before returning home Tuesday to face Onalaska in another MVC contest at E.J. McKean Field. Five home matches are left on the varsity schedule.
