Weather dents Tomah High School sports schedule

Thursday and Friday were miserable days to be outdoors.

Everything on the Tomah High School schedule that was set for Thursday and Friday was cancelled as a combination of rain, snow, wind and cold swept through the area. The mass cancellations throughout western Wisconsin made it a challenge for area schools to reschedule games. Even though most teams have played only a handful of contests, the window for rescheduling contests is tight; the post-season begins in just six weeks for boys tennis, boys golf, softball and girls soccer and seven weeks for baseball.

Among the Thursday/Friday casualties:

* Baseball. Tomah’s Thursday home game against Sparta has been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 15.

* Softball. Tomah’s Thursday game at Sparta has been rescheduled for Friday, April 18. Tomah’s Saturday trip to Eau Claire to play both Eau Claire Memorial and Eau Claire North was cancelled. Instead, Tomah will play a doubleheader at Memorial May 16.

* Boys tennis. Thursday’s match at La Crosse Aquinas has been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 29.

* Girls soccer. Friday’s match at Sparta has been rescheduled for Monday, May 19, just three days before the start of the regional tournament. The match will be played at Southside Elementary School.

* Boys golf. The 36-hole Wisconsin Dells Invitational scheduled for Friday and Saturday has been rescheduled for Monday, April 21, and will be an 18-hole event. Tomah’s April 7 match at La Crosse Logan has been rescheduled for Friday, April 18.
