Irene M. Carlsen Irene M. Carlsen Irene M. Carlsen, 89, of Tomah, died peacefully April 6, 2008, at the Cranberry Courts Assisted Living Facility. She was born Sept. 16, 1918, to Milton and Edna (Saylor) Applegate in Jersey City, NJ. She was united in marriage to Victor Winker on Oct. 2, 1948, and to this union were born four children. She was united in marriage to Frank Carlsen on Nov. 26, 1969, at the Methodist church in New Lisbon. Irene worked at the V.A. Medical Center in Tomah until her retirement. She loved to sew, knit and crotchet. She was a faithful member of the Lone Rock Baptist Church.
