Zimmerman Doris Irene Lamp Doris Irene Lamp, age 94, passed on Thursday, April 3, 2008, at Close to Home in Tomah. She was born on Sept. 7, 1913, to Walter and Angeline (Chaloupka) Martin at Twin Brooks, SD. She married Edwin Lamp at Ortonville, MN, on Feb. 19, 1938. He passed away in 1983. Doris lived in La Crosse for six years before moving to Tomah in the late 1950s. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Tomah and the Milwaukee Railroad Women’s Auxiliary of Tomah. She is survived by her son, Bernard (Leslee) Lamp of Pewee Valley, KY; three granddaughters, Anne (Paul) Hendrich of Georgetown, IN, Alison (Michael) Tyson of Frederick, MD, Colleen (Mark) Prilik of San Antonio, TX; a great-grandchild, Paul Douglas Hendrich; a brother, John Martin of Ortonville, MN; sisters, Joanne (Norbert) Berndt of Big Stone City, SD, and Elaine Stolpman of Cold Springs, MN. In addition to her husband Edwin, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Florence and Mavis; and three brothers, Walter Jr. “Snorky”, Eugene and Donald. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 7, at 2 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. The Very Rev. Steven J. Kachel will officiate. Burial will follow in the Greenfield Cemetery, Tunnel City. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Monday from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Zimmerman of Ripon, formerly of Tomah, died Friday April 4, 2008. He was born April 21, 1922 to Emil and Hattie (Schroeder) on a farm west of Tomah. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Tomah. He was a lifetime member of St. Paul EV. Lutheran Church for over 50 years. He graduated from the Tomah High School in 1941. He was married to Marcella Pasch in 1956. She preceded him in death in 1980. He married Agnes Luebchow in 1982 and they relocated back to Tomah. She preceded him in death in 1996. He then married Sally Smith in 1998 and moved to Ripon WI. He farmed most of his life, belonging to several farming organizations. He was a member of AARP. He belonged to the Men’s Club. He was a member of the Tomah Conservation Club. He was the sexton of Mt. Vernon Cemetery for 45 years, the cemetery secretary and treasurer for 36 years and the cemetery caretaker for 33 years. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening and traveling. In addition to his wife Sally, he is survived by his step children, the Rev. Roderick (Linda) Luebchow of St. Paul, MN, John (Susan) Luebchow of Tomah, Nancy (Hernandez) Daylo of Tomah, Audrey Bortner of Sun Prairie, Lloyd Smith, Howard Smith, Jerrald (Mary) Smith, Joann (John) Strandell, all of Ripon, Leroy Smith of Plain Field, 29 step-grandchildren, 24 step great-grandchildren and 2 step great-great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and a stepdaughter Jonell Larson. Funeral services will be held Tuesday April 8, 2008, 11 a.m. at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Tomah. The Reverend Donald Buch will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Town of Tomah. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. The Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home of Tomah is assisting the family with arrangements.
