Tomah man accepts plea arrangement in fatal shootings
MAUSTON — A Tomah, Wis., man pleaded no contest Monday to reckless homicide charges in the March 2007 fatal shooting of two people in rural northwest Juneau County.
John G. Tetting Jr., 25, reached a plea agreement with authorities that combines charges from Juneau and Monroe counties.
Tetting entered the no contest pleas in Juneau County Circuit Court to two counts of second-degree reckless homicide as party to the crime. He also pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property and possession of cocaine with the intent to deliver, both Monroe County cases.
Other Monroe County charges — two bail jumping counts, resisting or obstructing an officer, disorderly conduct, carrying a concealed weapon and possessing a firearm — were dismissed as part of the agreement.
Racine County Assistant District Attorney Mike Luell, special prosecutor in the case, said Tetting is expected to cooperate in prosecuting David Turner, accused of firing the shots that killed 31-year-old Joshua Alderman of La Crosse and 23-year-old Tabatha Nealy of Wisconsin Rapids.
The two were found dead March 11, 2007, inside a green Chevrolet Impala in the town of Findley near Necedah, Wis.
Tetting told authorities he drove Turner, 33, also of Tomah, to the secluded road, where Turner shot the pair. Turner has pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree intentional homicide.
Juneau County Circuit Court Judge John Roemer set Tetting’s sentencing for July 8, after Luell requested additional time so a pre-sentence investigation can be done.
Tetting faces a maximum of 25 years in prison and up to $100,000 in fines for the two reckless homicide counts, Roemer said, plus a maximum of six years and 15 years in prison respectively for the stolen property and cocaine charges.
