Thompson reclaims job of mayor; school board race tight

Ed Thompson will be Tomah's mayor once again.

Thompson, who served as mayor of Tomah from 2000 to 2002, defeated incumbent mayor Chuck Ludeking by nearly a 2-1 margin Tuesday. Thompson received 970 votes to Ludeking's 494. Thompson, who ran on a platform of change for Tomah and less government spending, left the mayor's office to run for governor in 2002. Ludeking has been mayor since Thompson left office in 2002.

In the contested City Council races, Pete Peterson defeated incumbent Pam Buchda in the 4th District. Peterson received 119 votes to Buchda's 90. In the 6th District, Dennis Workman defeated Howard Nauman 102 to 95. In the 8th District, Joanne Westpfhal won over Larry Siekert. Westpfhal won 88 to 65.

In the Tomah School Board race, challenger Judy Deming and incumbent Deb Buswell have clearly won two of the three open seats. The third remains in doubt. Incumbent Joan Greendeer-Lee led challenger Darren Price by just 34 votes with 21 of 22 precincts reporting. Challengers Brian Moravec and Todd Stark finished fifth and sixth.
