Tomah High School's Auggie Moser won the pole vault for the Timberwolf boys, helping Tomah to a fifth place finish in the large-school division at the Northern Badger Track and Field Classic in Menomonie on Saturday.

Tomah finished with 47 points. Logan won the team title with 120.50 points. Central placed second with 91, Rochester Century was third with 56.60, and Holmen took fourth with 54.

Moser won the pole vault with a cleared height of 12 feet. Moser held off second-place finisher Allen Zielke of Logan, who finished with a height of 11 feet-6 inches.

Tomah senior Derek Storkel also turned in an impressive performance on the indoor track at the University of Wisconsin-Stout campus. His 3200 meter run time of 9-minutes, 55.18 seconds was good enough for second place. Rochester Century High School's Shane Steele captured first place in a time of 9:40.89.

Tyler Butzler gave Tomah a third-place finish in the shot put with a distance of 48-08. Matt Ferry finished fourth in the high jump with a distance of 5-10, and seventh in the triple jump (39-05.50). Other place-winners for Tomah were Zach Johnson, Rhett Monroe Alex Marten and Zurik Adler. Johnson finished eighth in the triple jump with 38-feet-11 inches. Monroe was fourth in the long jump with a distance of 18-08.5. Marten was eighth in the high jump with a jump of 5-06. Adler was fourth in the pole vault, clearing 10-feet. Tomah's 4x200 and 4x400 meter relay teams finished fifth and ninth, respectively.

The Tomah girls placed 10th in the large-school division, behind Haleigh Flottmeyer's second-place finish in the 3200 meter run. Flottmeyer finished in 12:13.12 to set a new Tomah indoor record. Onalaska's Maddie Hibshman won the event in 11:52.51.

The Timberwolves also picked up three fifth-place finishes in Samantha Hartshorn, Katelynn Elsing and Libby Heisinger. Hartshorn placed fifth in the high jump with a distance of 4-feet, 8 inches, behind Haley Fletcher, of Hudson, who finished with the same distance. Elsing was fifth in the long jump with a distance of 14-01.5, and Heisinger was fifth in the shot put with a distance of 33-09. Tomah's 4x200 team finished sixth in the 10-team field.
