More than 160 delagates have registered for the 3rd Congressional District Convention that will be held in Sparta on March 29. The event will take place at Jake’s Northwoods, 1132 Angelo Road, according to Monroe County Democratic Party Chair Steven Williams.

“It is the first time that Monroe County Democrats have hosted an event of this magnitude,” Williams said. “

The District includes 19 Wisconsin counties, stretching from St. Croix and Dunn counties in the north to Grant and Lafayette counties in the south. Keynote speaker Dr. Patricia Raftery, Director of Monroe County’s St. Clare Health Mission, will be joined by 3rd District Congressman Ron Kind in addressing the delegates. Also on the agenda for the convention is an election of officers and the debate of a number of proposed resolutions.

Registration for the event begins at 8:30 a.m. the day of the convention. The convention opens at 9:30 a.m. There is a $30 registration fee for cost of materials, all-day refreshments and a luncheon buffet at noon. The convention is open to the public and those who attend do not have to be members of the Democratic Party.
