Cheryl R. Holly (Andrews) Kerr, Calvin L. Henricks

Cheryl Rae Holly Andrews Kerr, age 62, of Tunnel City, WI, passed away on Friday, February 29, 2008, at her home with her family by her side. She was born on March 8, 1945, to Chester and Joyce (Sherer) Holly in the Greenfield Township, Monroe County, WI. Cheryl served in the United States Air Force from 1964 - 1968 and was a disabled veteran. She was a graduate of the Gale Institute of Technology.

She lived in Tunnel City most of her life. She was a member of the Tunnel City Community Church and Tomah Methodist Church. Cheryl loved her grandchildren and Lina, they meant the world to her. She enjoyed going to therapy at the Tomah VA and considered the therapists her friends. She was a frequent visitor/"glitter cutter" at Burnstad's chatting with everyone and anyone. Cheryl took pride in her title of "Grandma Wheels." She was a world-class shopper who firmly believed that all women needed a pair of red high-heeled shoes (even if she wouldn't wear them herself). During the football season, she crossed her fingers for the Packers, every time they played.

She is survived by her children, Tomi Andrews of Brookfield, WI and Ronda (Mark) Berndt of Tunnel City, WI; a brother, Chester (Sandi) Holly Jr. of Tunnel City, WI; sisters, Donna Thompson of Tunnel City, WI, Colleen McMenamy of Crookston, MN and Lylace (Kevin) Wright of Albion, NY; grandchildren, Anna (Tim) Knight, Greg Berndt, Matt (Bethany) Berndt and Chris Berndt all of Black River Falls, WI; great grandchildren, Isaiah and Weston Berndt and Meghan Knight; her special “adopted” family, Michelle Mayne and Lina of Brookfield, WI; and very close friend, Yvonne Larson of Tunnel City, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joyce and Chester; her sister, Joylee Holly; and brother-in-law, Ronnie Thompson.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2008, 3 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. Pastor Edwin Stigen will officiate. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Tuesday, March 4, 2008, from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. Calvin L. Henricks

Calvin Lyle Henricks, 83, of Tomah, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008 at his home in Tomah shortly after he was diagnosed with cancer. He was born in Clifton, WI, on April 13, 1924, one of nine children to Frank and Hazel (Bjornstad) Henricks. Calvin attended the one-room schoolhouse in Clifton and then the high school in Tomah for a short time. Calvin met Kathleen Stout in Camp Douglas, while she was visiting her sister there. They were united in marriage a short time later on Feb. 28, 1947. They were married 50 years until Kathleen’s passing on July 18, 1997. Together they raised two daughters, June Elaine Madosh (Calvin’s stepdaughter) and Betty Lou Marcellis. June Elaine had two daughters, Debbie Kim and Kelly Jean, and one son, Jessie Wayne. Betty Lou had one son, Calvin Leroy. Calvin had a calling for machinery; in his younger years it was farm work. For 17 years, he worked in Elroy and the surrounding area for Overgaard, either driving dump trucks or operating machinery. While living in Milwaukee, he operated heavy equipment for 10 years. He worked for Northland Cranberries during the harvest season up into his 70s. He left his mark between New Lisbon and Necedah by helping to construct the dam on the Wisconsin River that forms Petenwell Lake. Calvin enjoyed the outdoors, cutting firewood and logging, fishing for bullheads in the nearby lakes and marshes. Above all, his best friends remember him playing cards. Calvin enjoyed playing cards with his friends more than anything.

He is survived by his daughter, Betty Lou Marcellis of Tomah; a brother, Edgar (Vivian) Henricks of Eau Claire; three sisters, Elaine Leach of Tomah, Myrtle Richardson of Camp Douglas and Barbara (Craig) Jones of Tomah; a grandson whom he raised, Calvin Leroy (Sandi) Marcellis of Tomah; two granddaughters, Debbie Kim Madosh of Tomah and Kelly Jean Madosh of Camp Douglas; his special sisters-in-law, Betty Henricks and Carla Henricks; his fishing buddy, Sharon Kuehl; many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kathleen; a stepdaughter, June Elaine Madosh; a grandson, Jesse Madosh; a great-grandson, Chance Madosh; three brothers, Marvin, Gordon and Howard, and a sister, Donna Roscovius.

Funeral services were today (Monday), March 3, at 11 a.m. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St., Tomah. Pastor William Rice officiated. Burial was in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Relatives and friends called at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and today from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
