Gertrude M. Boehm, 79, of Tomah died Thursday, February 21, 2008, after a long battle with multiple myeloma.
Gerturde was born on June 15, 1928, to Herman and Louise (Biegel) Wich in Tomah. She attended St. Paul Ev. Lutheran School and remained a lifelong member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church. Gertrude graduated from the Tomah High School in 1945. She was united in marriage to William “Bud” Boehm on Dec. 25, 1948. To this union five children were born. Gertrude will be remembered for her love of family, her passion for housekeeping, her loyalty to the Green Bay Packers and her enthusiasm for a good marching band. She took great pride in her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Bud, her sons David (Mary) of Grandville, MI and Kenneth (Nancy) of LaCrosse, her daughters Lisa of Tomah and Andrea Redfield of St. Paul, MN, six grandchildren Moira (Zak) Branigan of Ann Arbor, MI, Christopher Boehm of Chicago, IL, Evan (Elise) Boehm of Lansing, MI, Lindsay, Brianna, and Maisie Boehm, all of LaCrosse, two sisters Irene Billsborrow and Beata (William) Goetsche both of Ft. Meyers, FL, a brother-in-law Robert (Jeanne) Boehm of Tomah, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Richard Joseph, and three sisters, Katherine Danner, Louise Kubal, and Eleanora Cole.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, 11 a.m. at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 525 Superior Ave., Tomah. Pastor Curt Backhaus will officiate. Burial will be in La Grange Cemetery, in the town of La Grange. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
The Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
