Linehan wins title at Tomah jayvee wrestling invite

Mike Linehan won the championship of the 103-pound weight division to lead the Tomah High School jayvee wrestling team to a sixth-place finish at the Tomah Junior Varsity Wrestling Invitational Saturday at Tomah High School.

Seventeen teams competed in the invitational.

Linehan won four matches to win the title. He defeated Jason Munoz of Wisconsin Rapids, 15-11, in the championship match.

The Timberwolves had three other top-four finishers:

u Zach Senger won three matches to reach the championship round at 152 pounds. He lost the title match and took second.

u Derrick Scott reached the semifinal round before finishing third at 135.

u Charles Tralmer won two matches to reach the semifinal round and finished fourth at 130.

Damion Reekie lost his first match at 112 but won his next three to emerge as the consolation champion.

Team scores: Wausau West 325.5, Stevens Point 208, Milton 137.5, Merrill 130, Wisconsin Rapids 103.5, Tomah 96, D.C. Everest 70.6, Sparta 70.5, Holmen 70, Neillsville 69, Baraboo 60, Mauston 53, La Crosse Central 38, Nekoosa/Port Edwards 31, Melrose-Mindoro 22, Black River Falls 17, La Crosse Logan 14.

The jayvees will compete in the final meet of the season Feb. 7 at the Madison La Follette Invitational.
