I am truely afrid to see what my children are going to grow up into. I am afrid to let my children go outside and play. I am 25 years old and I remember being able to walk down town to get something to eat and not worry about if I was going to get shot or taken. Let alone going to a bar and seeing all the fights that are going on. I think this world is getting a little too out of hand and it is time that we realize what OUR younger generations are going to grow up in.

Not something I want to think about. I want to enjoy my children and make sure they grow up to have a safe and healthy life.

I think that there are too many people in every town that go to the bars too much..ya it is okay to drink a couple here and there but now days it is too much...people are only thinking about who are they going to go home with tonight, where are they going to get there next deal at, or oh my goodness that person looked at me wrong.

" It is my understanding that these bars serve FREE shots at the top of EVERY hour and FREE pitchers of beer at some points. You let them set up shop in 3 towns where the poverty level is out of control, 87% of the population is in & out of the County Jail on a VERY regular basis & no one seems to care that a man died after being SERVED & then REFUSED service. When you have a problem removing a patron from your establishment you should call in the authorities, not take it into your own hands. They took the gamble..let them pay the price... SHUT THEM DOWN!!! Let RESPONSIBLE bar owners purchase the businesses. I am sure that there are 30 different stories from that night from 30 intoxicated patrons, either way it all comes back to RESPONSIBLE SERVERS!! " Everyone here argues over what town is better...We're all just the same. Why does Tomah get blamed for a bar fight that happned in Sparta? There is bad people everywhere. I see things in the paper quite a bit about people killing themselves in hotel rooms in sparta and whatever else, is Tomah to blame on that too? Lets all grow up a little bit and realize it's not about the city...it's aout where this guy was when this all happned. Isn't Dimensions just a popular place. As me myself who was atually employed at one of Dimension Bars. I believe it was one of the sickest places to work. To be told the way you have to dress and act while act work...You must come into work with nothing else but skimpy slutty outfits. You also have NO choice weater or not you get ontop the bar and do shots. If you came to work not properly dressed you were sent home to change. If I knew I was applying to work at a place like this why not just try out for a strip club and make a lil more money? JUST SICK! While working at Dimensions I seen MANY MANY fights...sadly most of them were 3 or 4 people on 1 while all the bartenders could really do was watch and call the police. I feel the owners try to get these people out of the as soon as they can because once outside of thier doors they are no longer responsible. I dont feel that is right at all. THESE BARS ARE SICK! I think it's about time these owners woke up and closed thier doors before another person looses thier life in thier bar or because of thier bar....If this was my family it would be a lawsuit. These people at these bars do nothing..I haven't seen anything in here if they have found the person who did this yet? Where the hell was the bartender/ bouncers or anyone at this time...sumone deffinalty seen something. What a sad story! My thoughts and prayers are with the family of this man, and I hope to god that they can get something out of this and get these Bars to close thier doors before another is in the place of this poor man. " The autospy will reveal if he had been drinking. I really have a hard time believing that personally. I have spoke to someone that witnessed the altercation and have been told by them, that Dave was violently slammed to the floor by the bouncer and was not the one who started the so called fight in the first place. " I encourage you to speak with former employees of Dimensions. You wll find that Mr. Murphy has standing orders that if you call the police you will lose your job. He has fired employees for calling the police but will usually hire them back after several weeks. Mr. Murphy ensures that his young female bartenders, especially the ones with kids, know that he holds the purse strings. He will tell you he is a responsible bar owner and then laugh when he realizes he has pulled the wool over, again. These problems will not go away until the cities involved decide to do something about it, it is that simple. " this bar as with the other Dimensions is all about MONEY. Sell,sell,sell and at no point in time call the cops, but SELL,SELL,SELL. I know the owners personally although I have nothing to do with them anymore. As far as training the employees the EMPLOYEES ARE DOING EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE TRAINED TO DO. If they quit selling drinks to anyone for any reason they WILL BE FIRED. Sparta now has to deal with the same problems Tomah has had to deal with for the past 5 years. " The best recourse is to stop patronizing the establishments that are a part of the problem. It's all about money. If they have customers, they will continue to serve. If they don't, they go out of business. Boycotts work! " If the subject was sooo drunk, why didn't the bartender stop serving him? If he arrived in that condition (yeah right!), why did the allow him access in to their establishment? The taverns in this county are notorious for over serving customers, that is why Monroe County is one of the highest per capita in OWI arrests. Owners and bartenders need to be held accountable for over serving people. My average OWI Arrest is 2-3 times the legal limit. "

" Sad but true...Dave was not "injured" at Dimensions, he was killed. By your own admission, he was killed by a bouncer with the help of another patron according to your story. I am sorry he is dead, I hope he is in a better place.

On the other hand, it is possible all Dimensions staff did was overserve and evict him, you don't know what happened to him after he left the tavern do you? So he may have been hurt already by them, and someone else did further damage. This is for the police and court to figure out. Either way, Dimensions should get sued for accessory to the death. They should train there servers to follow the law and stop serving people when they are intoxicated. Oh wait, they would have to be clean and sober themselves to know the difference wouldn't they? I guess you won't find that at Dimensions... "

" Pertaining to fault...was Dave highly intoxicated before coming into Dimensions? If so, he should not have been allowed into their facility. Otherwise, if he became that intoxicated under their roof, they over-served him! Either way, the bouncers, bartenders, and owners have an obligation to refuse to serve intoxicated individuals. In fact, any intelligent bouncer would of stopped this whole thing by not allowing an obviously intoxicated individual into the establishment in the first place, or the bartender could of refused to serve him in the first place or after he got hammered in their facility. It would seem to me that 1 or 2 very expensive and legitimate lawsuits would make the owners of Dimensions be a little more careful about the way they run their "fine establishments." If the local government will not take it upon themselves to bring these bars into compliance with already existing laws and they will not revoke the server's license after multiple violations, it will be the responsibility of the public to shut down these places. With enough voices, we law-abiding, community contributing citizens can be taken out from under the influence of these despicable establishments and the general scum that tend to visit Dimensions! "

" I was in Dimensions the night that Dave was injured and I have got to tell you people how very wrong you are. Dave was a GREAT guy...but that night Dave was DRUNK. He was stumbling all over, pawing all the girls...even though it was the night of the big storm and there were only about 30 people in there. He danced with a few girls that let him...and then one that didn't and she complained. The bouncer went over to him to ask him to stop and he almost fell over. So, the bouncer started to take him out and Dave started to fight him.
The bouncer had his arms and Dave was still struggling and they both fell over a stool and I saw Dave hit his head on the ground. Another guy in the bar came over to help them get up and then helped the bouncer get him out the door...which took quite a long time, since Dave was still fighting. I couldn't believe how long it took considering how drunk he was and how old he was. They put him outside and that was that.
There was no fight!
There was no fault!
And it sure wasn't Dimensions' fault that Dave got too drunk, wanted to fight being thrown out and caused himself to fall over!
Dimensions' owners and bouncers have a responsibility to protect the rest of the patrons of the bar from people who are too drunk and being belligerant. And that's exactly what they did.
I am sorry he died, I really am....but it wasn't anyone's fault but his own. "

" Look at the Tomah bar all the drugs and the people from the bad areas of Milwaukee,Madison, and Chicago seem to end up there doing all there illegal activities and no-one says a word the TPD are afraid of these people and soon SPD will be also, a lot of these MORONS in Sparta dimensions and directly out of the Tomah one. these are bad,bad bars with bad bad people in them and bad people running them, yes I know the owner personally and he is not a person to trust. THIS NEEDS TO BE CLEANED UP. as far as all the bar fights in Tomah 90% are unreported because the city council has this rule between Bars and the city that if the cops are called to many times you will loose your liqueur license, WHICH IS STUPID. The bars should be able to rely on the Police to get rid of these people and if more people were busted then they would not be allowed in the bars. ALSO ALL BARS NEED BOUNCERS on the weekends to help out the bartenders. We have a problem in this area and there has been no help by the city or the police just tie the hands of the good business owners, dimensions doesn't make that list "

" It would seem that Dimensions brings trouble, no matter what town they are in. Wasn't it Dimensions in Tomah that had a couple of stabbings in their parking lot a while back? Wasn't it Dimensions in Tomah that had the problem with fights in the streets? I can't believe any municipality would continue to issue a server's license to anyone that has proprietary authority over such establishments. Obviously bars are way over-visited in this state, but the particular bars that are usual places of trouble and violence must be targeted for revocation of their server's licenses! How many times do we need to have dead victims before we wakeup to the idea that Dimensions is a magnet for the low-life, drug pushing, tough guy or gangster wannabe, scum of this region! There should be a focused, under-cover investigation of the things going on at these establishments! I would be completely shocked if such an investigation would not nab some small time players, that would lead to the major suppliers in the area. "

Please let's not down grade any town such as Tomah or Sparta for that matter because one or more person choose to do the wrong thing. " Nice guy in the wrong place, in the wrong era. Just a small part of the equation that led to this senseless death. The part that is most at fault is the idiotic mentality and the people running that joint. The "theater" as it used to be called, was actually a decent place where people could have fun, dancing when it meant something. Today, "Dimensions" plays lots of hardcore rap containing lyrics about guns, drugs, pimps, etc. Couple this with a few drinks and it cues people to act stupidly tough rather than dance and have a simple good time. In other words, if don't look like 50 Cent or Tupac, then you ain't in home slice!
This poor man thought he was walking into the theater of 15-20 years ago and instead he was rudely time warped into the current generation. I truly feel sorry for his family and friends. And a message to the owners of "Dimensions" if they are listening, hope you can sleep well after opening your doors on New Year's Eve to make that dollar, knowing you played some role in this man's death. " I will tell you a little about this person.... He was very gentle and never drank. He danced by himself and never bothered anyone and sadly i was one of many who laughed and he never cared, he just danced away. As far as dimensions they throw whoever out that is fighting and has no regard for who might get beat up. There theory is that it isnt there problem once there out the door.
