Clifton “Jay” Reneau

Clifton “Jay” Reneau, age 57, of Ontario, WI, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007, at the Tomah VA Medical Center. He was born on Oct. 30, 1950, to Clifton and Leona (Hardy) Reneau in Dallas, TX.

Jay was a devoted husband to his wife Jean and they made the Mt. Tabor area their home for the past 30 years. For several years he and Jean operated a restaurant in Ontario, but he had touched the lives of many the past 24 years when they opened their home and dedicated their lives to caring for the disabled and handicapped.

However his pride and joy was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Whether it be fishing, hunting, deer shining, fixing bikes, mushrooming or whatever, he loved the grandchildren and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Jay served in the Vietnam Conflict from 1969 to 1971. He had many health problems over the years, but after a bout with cancer, went home to be with the Lord last Saturday. We will miss you, dear one, but never forget you and always love you. May you now rest in peace, free from all pain in the arms of the Heavenly Father.

He is survived by his wife Jean Reneau of Ontario; his mother, Leona Hardy of Sparta; a son, Newly (Shelly) Reneau of Ontario; stepchildren, Neala (Calvin) Winchel of Hillsboro and Neal (Sue) Fish of Ontario; 10 grandchildren, Kari (Heath) Houser of Sparta, Kylea Fish of Tomah, Kyle Winchel of Hillsboro, Ryan Fish of Eau Claire, Kale Winchel of Wilton, Cody Fish of Ontario, Katelyn and Bethany Winchel of Hillsboro, and Noah and Adrian Reneau of Elroy; a step-grandson, Brandon of Tomah; and three great-grandchildren, Samara, Keaton and Corbin; brothers and sisters, Bill (Ellen) Reneau of Tomah, John Reneau of Fall Creek, Chris (Brenda) Reneau of Wilton, Martha Gnewikow of Sparta and Scott Hardy of Tomah; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clifton Reneau, and step-father, Ed Hardy.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 11 a.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Ontario. Pastor Gjefle and Pastor Fossum officiated. Burial with military honors by the Ontario American Legion followed in the Fairview Cemetery. Family and friends called on Monday, Nov. 12, 2007, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Ontario. Family and friends also called on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
