The Monroe County Local History Room’s genealogy website www.monroecountyhistory.org has just added two new indexes.

The “Civil War Veteran Census Index” contains a listing of Monroe County Civil War Veterans who either served in Wisconsin organizations (ie.regiments) or of other states living in Monroe County. Census years include: 1885, 1890, 1895, 1905.

The Monroe County Biographical Index is an index of biographies written for notable Monroe County citizens that were published in 19th and early 20th century books. Without this master index, one would have to peruse several books and risk missing some genealogical gold.

These two new indexes join the four indexes on the website already: Monroe County Newspaper Index, Census Index, Court Record Index, and Monroe County Cemetery Index.

Monroe County residents are encouraged to search for their ancestors on the Local History Room's website www.monroecountyhistory.org. Resources on the website span the 1850s to the 1960s.
